I'd love to hear what you have to say about the post below or any other - but I'm changing my comment settings to disallow "anonymous" comments. Sorry - I've been getting lots of spam all of a sudden.
Other options are to just keep deleting spam as it comes, close comments all together, or have them queue up and await moderation.
Let me know if you're aware of a good way to block comment spam in an environment like this.
Move to wordpress!!!! They block spam comments for you!
ReplyDeleteI wondered how long it would be before somebody piped in with that... I might. I just don't like leaving my archives - almost 500 posts - behind. That's the only reason I've hesitated. But I'd consider a move. WP is certainly a better product.
ReplyDeleteI was about to say the same thing - my experience with WP is great, it's rare that I have to mark a comment as SPAM. BTW, there are ways to move all entries. If I remember correctly, it was first export as xml and then import at WP. I am not sure if tags are moved correctly, too.
ReplyDeleteJ - thanks. I went ahead and set up a WP account. We have a holiday weekend coming up here in the States so maybe I'll play around with a new blog! Actually, will also be needing a new platform for the weekly pub I manage at work - we send it out over email primarily but need an RSS-feed-able site for archives. Wordpress might do the trick for that as well. I have this fantasy that if I put the challenge out to my readers for that, one of them will volunteer to do it for me - especially as importing THOSE archives may not be as easy as it appears a blogger-->wordpress move might be.
